Space & Arctic: science in confined and extreme environments
Carnotzet scientifique online
Science Valais
Embark on a journey to Space and into the heart of the Arctic - under extreme conditions.
Julia Schmale, professor at the Extreme Environment Research Laboratory at EPFL, will share her experience of the Arctic drift experiment MOSAiC. The goal of the MOSAiC expedition is to take the closest look ever at the Arctic as the epicenter of global warming and to gain fundamental insights that are key to better understand global climate change.
Chloé Carrière, president of the association Space@yourService, will speak about the Asclepios project: a simulating mission on another celestial body. The goal of this project is to train students for their future space endeavors as astronauts, space engineers or members of the Mission Control Center. The experiments cover psychology, physiology, data analysis, geology, astronomy and 3D printing, among others.
